Hi I’m Allison Maynard
I’m a curious educator, researcher, and all-around technology enthusiast passionate about connecting people, technology, and nature. My mission? To inspire meaningful human-nature connections through immersive experiences that blend cutting-edge tech with innovative education. For almost 4 years, I’ve worked with immersive technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, exploring and researching creative solutions to reimagine how we engage with the natural world, other humans, and technology. Honestly, this passion didn’t come out of nowhere—I worked in digital media and educational content creation, experimenting with technology and storytelling long before I ever strapped on a VR headset.
When I’m not dreaming up new ways to help people connect with nature, you’ll find me out in it—hiking trails, hanging out with my dogs, or traveling to some wild and wonderful place like hanging out with chimpanzees in Gombe, safari sighting in Ruaha National Park in Tanzania, waddling with the penguins in Antarctica, or exploring our national parks state-side! Every trip has certainly helped lead me down my current passion path. But also, I’m a big fan of cozy, nature-inspired video games, getting lost in Stardew Valley for hours, which explains why I love exploring how technology can bring the magic of the outdoors to everyone, no matter where they are.
I believe in dreaming big, asking bold questions, and turning “what ifs” into actionable plans. Whether I’m collaborating with a team or diving into a new project, I’m always looking for creative, innovative ways to make an impact. If you’re here to learn about my work or just share ideas, I hope you leave inspired to explore the wild side of technology with me.
